The Need
*Prairie Grove of Washington county is a rural community with a population of 2,540.
*Most parents of 7th-12th grade teens commute for work, leaving teens unsupervised in the hours after school.
*There is no other place for teens to go after school.
*The Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) of Washington county has reported that out of all the rural towns, Prairie Grove holds their highest case load for juvenile crime.
*By continually showing these teens love, telling them of their own worth, and accepting them for who they are, they will change how they see themselves. And this change will manifest itself in not only changing their own behavior but will also change their view of others.
*Bighouse Youth Outreach, Inc. has been a 501c3 non-profit organization since 2005 committed to give quantity time to teens in order to impact the next generation with purpose and direction. We are led by a board of directors ranging from executives to ministers. Our board is very active which is essential to our organization.
